Park Lane Driver Training: Instructor Training

Part 3 Instructional Training

This training is based on a minimum of 40 hours. Lesson plans will be supplied and the necessary materials to teach pupils at different levels of ability.

This module is all about preparing you not only for the Part 3 test but also for working as a professional driving instructor. The training will put into use your knowledge of driving topics, techniques and procedures, and will to show you how to pass that knowledge on to a pupil learning to drive and different levels of ability.

Example of part of the Syllabus

  • Introduction to the work of an ADI and lesson preparation and planning and in a structured way
  • Knowledge Requirements for each subject you teach
  • Instructional techniques
  • Understanding the techniques available and timing of them
  • Levels of instruction
  • Planning the lesson and controlling the lesson
  • Wordings for directions and instructions
  • Communication / Feedback and Encouragement
  • Understanding and practising Fault Assessment will be covered in subjects not only to prepare you for the part 3 test but in all aspects so you can work as a driving instructor. Observation of actual driving lessons will help enormously and can be arranged for you.

Examples of some of the subjects we will be covering:

  • Explanation of the controls
  • Moving off, making normal stops and use of the mirrors
  • How to make an emergency stop and practical instruction in the use of mirrors
  • Approaching and turning corners
  • Judgement of speed, making progress and general road positioning
  • Dealing with road junctions Dealing with crossroads
  • Dealing with roundabouts
  • All test curriculum and additional subjects you will need to teach learner drivers.
