Frequently Asked Questions

Q How long is it going to take to work as a driving instructor?
A It depends if you are working full time or part time. Probably a minimum of about 4 - 6 months dependent on time you commit to study, training and practice and then the availability of tests (need to have passed parts 1 & 2 and had 40 hours part 3 training to apply for a PDI Licence.
Q I didn’t think it would take that long?
A A You need to be fully prepared for each test and from our experience it is a process that cannot be rushed. It is also dependant on the availability of the tests you have to take.
Q How much will it cost and will you want all the money up front?
A There are three stage payments for the driving instructor training course after the assement fee £32.00 and the initial non refundable booking deposit of £150
Q What are the additional costs?
A Test fees (as at April 2008) are as follows:
    Part 1 £80.00  
    Part 2 £99.00  
    Part 3 £99.00  
  Any additional training will be secured by a deposit and each training session will be paid for up front
  Additional training for the individual parts:
    Hire of car for practical tests (if required) £65.00
    Trainee Licence for PDIs £125.00
    ADI Register fee £200.00
Q Is there any help with funding for training?
A Career Development Loans are available subject to meeting the criteria. Park lane Driver Training is registered as an approved learning provider
